Reaction to Bobby Sands' death in Dublin
Mike McKay reports from Dublin on the reaction to the death of IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands MP.
His report begins outside the General Post Office in O’Connell Street and later in the day he reports from outside the Dáil (the Irish Parliament) where two thousand supporters of the H Block campaign protested against Taoiseach Charles Haughey for not putting enough pressure on the British government to meet the hunger strikers’ demands.
McKay reports that although the protesters have not united the whole of Ireland behind the Provisional IRA their protest has cast a deep chill over relations between London and Dublin.
