Skeleton coast
Namibia's Skeleton Coast was rightly feared by travellers because so many people died here due to shipwrecks or the merciless desert. Jonathan Scott and Jean-Paul Roux are in Cape Cross where the largest colony of Cape fur seals in Namibia is found. At this time of year, the young male fur seals try out their fighting and territory-holding skills. At the peak of the breeding season they have no chance because bigger males hold all the best sites, but now they can practice. Meanwhile jackals come to the fur seal colony looking for food to scavenge.
