The Vote for Women Priests
Should women be allowed to become priests? That was the decision facing the Church of England back in 1992. Christina Rees remembers when the General Synod met to vote.
On the morning of 11 November, 1992, the Church of England faced its most challenging day since the decision to split from the Catholic church in Rome. By the evening there were scenes of jubilation and despair and the church was never the same again. Christina Rees remembers the day the General Synod voted in favour of women priests.
