Short but sweet

Gordon Buchanan is sailing round Coll to the north end to see the grey seals, common seals and hopefully some whales and dolphins. Gordon is realising how difficult it is to spot whales. You’re basically looking for the shape of its dorsal fin on its back as it comes out of the water, but if you sit here for long enough you’d think you’d seen about a hundred whales and it's nothing but a wave. He'll settle for the easier option, the seals of Coll. Seals bob up on both sides of the boat. Four common seals haul out on the rocks so he goes ashore. Most are common seals, but he did see a couple a couple of grey seals. The common seals are more nosy - they come in to take a look much more often. When it’s safe Gordon likes to get as near as he can to what he's filming, so he takes a small rowing boat out to get closer shots. On the way home and with the much calmer sea Gordon got lucky: the briefest glimpse of a ten foot Minke whale. Short but sweet!
