Only a quarter of all banded mongoose pups born make it through their first year, so the banded brothers family have a huge challenge on their hands. To stand any chance of standing up to their rivals they need as many of their babies to survive as possible, to even up the numbers. Due to their synchronised breeding, all the pups are the same age. But the oldest breeding female, and usual leader of the gang Diva, still hasn't given birth. This could be a disaster, as her babies will have a distinct disadvantage against their older, much larger cousins.
