Proud fishermen
Life on the river is all about timing, understanding Zambezi's mood, so she doesn't catch you out. The fish eagles have arrived early this year, perhaps reading something in the Zambezi waters that we can't see. It takes them many months to raise their family, so they must get their timing just right if their youngsters are to survive. The young birds must learn how to fish in the pools above Victoria Falls, before the rains return while the river is still shallow and calm. The open water is prime fishing for these adult birds and they call loudly to tell everyone in the area that this is their patch.
