Zambezi crossing
Above the Victoria Fall, elephants return to the Zambezi River as the land around begins to dry out. With little food to eat in the surrounding areas, they come to feed on the lush grasses which grow on the emerging islands in the river. They remember where to cross the river and always cross at the same place. The adult elephants try to shield the youngsters from the full force of the still swollen river, but the currents are still too strong and they are forced to turn back. They must wait until the river currents slow downand the Zambezi lets them cross.
