The bombing of the Grand Hotel in Brighton was aimed at UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her cabinet during the Conservative Party Conference in 1984.

The bomb was planted by the Irish militant group, the IRA.

Michael Dobbs was an advisor to the British government at the time and believes the Brighton bombing changed British political life forever.
