An elderly man who has been trapped under his own floorboards for three days needs to be rescued. It鈥檚 a highly unusual call for the paramedics of Scotland鈥檚 Special Operations Response Team (SORT), but that doesn鈥檛 stop them taking command of the situation and working with the fire service to free the patient. But what are the effects on the patient, Neil, who hasn鈥檛 been able to move, eat or drink for three days?

In Melrose, crew mates Mel and Laura discuss their work, with Mel explaining that she had to overcome her self-doubt to apply for the service. However, as an emergency call comes in from the police, the two friends and colleagues show they are made for the job. They calmly work to resuscitate a man who has taken an overdose of drugs, blue-lighting him to hospital and potentially saving his life.

Meanwhile, in Aberdeen, an experienced crew let a student paramedic take the lead when they arrive at the home of an elderly lady. Angela has ordered some pills from the internet without knowing what they are, and has taken an extremely large dose. Doctors are keen to check her out, but Angela is not sure she can face the wait in hospital. The crew set about winning her trust in the hope they can change her mind.
