The Odd Socks Murder
Alfred Swinscoe disappeared in 1967. His remains were found last year and identified by the odd socks still on his feet. Can his grieving grandson get the answers he is seeking?
For more than 50 years, Alfred Swinscoe’s remains lay undisturbed in a farmer’s field. The Derbyshire coal miner was last seen leaving his local pub in January 1967. His killing made international headlines when his body was identified, after his grandson recognised the odd socks still on his feet. But that remarkable discovery ended only part of a mystery spanning half a century. In its search for answers, the programme tracks down witnesses who speak for the first time and seeks to find out: what really happened to Alfred Swinscoe?
