Musicians and singers Alice Boyd and Inge Thomson on their recent work inspired by nature writer Nan Shepherd and filmographer Jenny Gilbertson.
Sculptor Steve Dilworth who has lived on the Isle of Harris for over 40 years and since the 1970s he has been testing the boundaries of materials and art, from intimate hand-held objects to monumental works in the landscape. Singer and field recordist Alice Boyd on her latest EP inspired after following in the footsteps of nature writer Nan Shepherd and an expedition into Scotland's Cairngorm Mountains. Singer and multi-instrumentalist Inge Thomson has also been inspired by another incredible artist - filmographer Jenny Gilbertson considered by some to be the first woman to direct a feature film in Scotland. Jenny’s 1933 silent film THE RUGGED ISLAND: A SHETLAND LYRIC will be screened in Edinburgh tonight accompanied by live music from Inge Thomson and Catriona Macdonald.
