Clean Break

believes in the power of theatre to change lives. It transforms the lives of women who have experienced the criminal justice system or are at risk of entering it through theatre workshops and outreach in prisons and the community.

Jen’s Story

Jen’s Story
Jen left prison a broken woman; she’d been separated from her children and lost her sense of purpose. Then, she came to Clean Break. This was a turning point in her life; she found a β€˜safe haven’ to channel her experiences through theatre workshops.

A new community, new skills, a new start

A new community, new skills, a new start
Jen received support to rebuild her confidence and self-esteem while finding her passion for acting and writing. Sharing experiences in the studio and onstage helped her reconnect, offstage, with her family and friends.

Life transformed through theatre

Life transformed through theatre
Jen has now rebuilt her life and is a professional actor on stage and screen. She can’t remember a time when she wasn’t a performer, β€œit’s part of who I am.” Jen says finding Clean Break β€œwas the best thing I ever did. It was the saving of my soul.”
