Shepton Mallet 1
Two teams roll up their sleeves to shop for antiques at the Bath and West Showground in Shepton Mallet, while Christina learns about the tradition of wearing cufflinks.
Fasten your cufflinks for an action-packed programme from Somerset. Presenter Christina Trevanion is joined by Stephen Redmond, who shares with her just a fraction of his huge collection of cufflinks. Stephen explains that, before cufflinks, shirts were fastened with ribbon or string until King Charles II chose to wear jewellery on his wrists. Among Stephen’s favourite pieces are a pair of jewel-encrusted cufflinks once owned by entertainer Ernie Wise.
Meanwhile, two teams shop for bargains at the Bath and West Showground in Shepton Mallet. On the red team are teachers Deborah and Julie, guided by Caroline Hawley. Their opponents in blue are friends Sandy and Julie, skippered by Thomas Forrester. The reds are on the hunt for something macabre, while the blues are after Danish jewellery, but with a room full of bidders, which team will triumph at Tim Weeks’s auction in nearby Wiltshire?
