Old Friends and Rabid Rivals

Episode 6 of 20

Experts Natasha Raskin Sharp and James Braxton start their three-country shopping spree in Wales. On the way, they uncover hidden musical talents and find out what’s in James’s jug.

It’s a tale of three countries on this road trip, as good chums and antiques aficionados, Natasha Raskin Sharp and James Braxton, take in Wales, England and Scotland. The last time these two met, Natasha won right at the eleventh hour, so on this rematch, James is keen to level the score. Our purchasing pair start in south Wales, behind the wheel of a very smart Daimler Sovereign. Each of our experts is armed with £200 to spend on antiques, and James, for some reason, has brought a harvest jug along for the ride. He never leaves home without it, apparently!

At the shops, Natasha gets her hands on a hat that isn’t a hat, some Victorian pottery with a wee reminder of her homeland, and she simply can’t resist having a bash at some salsa rhythms. James, meanwhile, has his eye on an old and interesting shop sign, something that makes eating chips feel a little classier and a dolphin in need of a dip.

As they are in Wales, our pair head off to Pontypridd to hear the history of a tune that fills every Welsh person’s heart with patriotic pride. James gets a music lesson on the country’s national instrument, but can he impress Natasha with his musical skills?

And then it’s off to the saleroom to see who grabs the first victory in this best-of-five auction battle.
