As part of our Offa's Dyke series, Delyth Liddell explores our enduring fascination with ruins. From Tintern Abbey in the South to Ruddlan Castle in the North, ruins can be found all around the border. Today we'll be visiting a handful of sites, talking to people captivated by ruins. Beginning with Tintern Abbey, Professor Mary-Ann Constantine contextualises the Romantic movement and how the ruins of Tintern became a subject of fascination. At Grosmont Castle in Monmouthshire, Delyth is joined by Jan Little of 'Strolls 'n' Stories' to find out more about contemporary creative responses to ruins. Delyth then speaks to Stuart Wilson, an archaeologist working with ruins at his excavation site at the 'Lost City of Trellech'. And finally, at Abbey Dore, the site of a mediaeval Cistercian Abbey that is part ruin and part parish church, Delyth is joined by local historian, archaeologist and author, Ruth Richardson and Rev Mark Godson to find out more about the juxtaposition of ruins and active ministry.
