Today is the last day to register to vote in the General Election. Only two-thirds of eighteen to twenty-four year olds are on the electoral register, compared with ninety-six per cent of pensioners. Poorer people and those from ethnic minority backgrounds are also less likely to be registered. The non-partisan 'Give an X' campaign, which is using social media to try to prompt a last minute surge in registrations.
