with Zara Janjua

Zara speaks to a Palliative Care doctor about working during the Covid pandemic, explores the reality of homelessness, and hears from a former police officer on hunting killers.

As Palliative Care doctor Rachel Clarke’s ‘Breathtaking - Inside The NHS in a Time of Pandemic’ is adapted for the small screen, Zara chats to Rachel about her time on the frontline and her thoughts on the impact on her life and the NHS today.

Zara discusses the cinematic release of director Lorna Tucker’s moving new documentary, Someone’s Daughter, Someone’s Son, with Big Issue founder, John Bird, and managing director of Fresh Start Scotland, Biddy Kelly, and hears their insights on the impact of the cost of living crisis on Scotland’s most vulnerable people.

With the popularity of true crime holding fast, Zara talks to the man who brought serial killer Peter Tobin to justice, former senior investigator detective David Swindle. David discusses his tour The Makings of A Murderer and the importance of putting victims front and centre.

From 9 to 10, Zara is joined by Professor Joe Goldblatt, chair of Edinburgh Interfaith Association, Ani Rinchen Khandro, resident nun and director of Kagyu Samye Dzong Edinburgh Buddhist Centre, and the Reverend Philip Blackledge, Rector, Holy Trinity Melrose to discuss some of the big topical events.

As a Biden-Trump re-match begins to unfold, the panel discusses the recent criticism of President Biden’s age, and what it means for the forthcoming election.

In light of Esther Ghey’s display of compassion towards the parents of the teenage killers that murdered her daughter Brianna a year ago, the panel examines the topic of hatred and anger, and how we overcome it. With the Radio 4 series ‘Why Do You Hate Me’ tracking down internet abusers and those they abuse, they also discuss the role interfaith work can have in countering anger.

Statistics released last month show nearly half of UK households own a pet, and that owners are more likely to verbally express love to their pets than their partners.
The Faith Forum looks at how our relationship to pets has changed throughout the years, their roles in Biblical texts and the important lessons that owning an animal can teach us.
