Radio 2 Piano Room - Rod Stewart & Jools Holland

Rod Stewart and Jools Holland are the latest megastars to step into Maida Vale studio 3 and perform for Radio 2 Piano Room Month 2024. And we dive into Vernon's Vault after 10am.

In the final week of Radio 2鈥檚 Piano Room month, today Rod Stewart and Jools Holland are the latest megastars to perform.

Rod and Jools have teamed up for a new album called 鈥楽wing Fever鈥� - a 13-track sparkling salute to the timeless songs of the big band years. Recorded at Jools' own studio in Greenwich, this is the first time he and Rod have teamed up on record and came from Rod's dream of making an album of the songs that were, in many ways, the rock 'n' roll of their day.

"I'd already started making a swing album, but it didn't turn out how I wanted it," explains Rod. "It was more Frank Sinatra than it was Louis Prima, let's say. So I cancelled that, and then I realised the guy I should go to is Jools. Also, our fanatical model railway enthusiasm bonded us together. So we started recording."

Also, 'Line Of Duty' star Martin Compston chooses his ten favourite songs in Tracks of My Years all this week. First shooting to fame in Ken Loach's 'Sweet 16' back in 2002, Martin鈥檚 had a varied career on big and small screen, but he's perhaps best loved for his role as DI Steve Arnott in the 麻豆约拍'S smash-hit drama 'Line of Duty'. He's also had notable TV roles in Monarch of the Glen, The Nest, Traces and Vigil, and he's appeared in The Damned United, The Wee Man and A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints on the big screen. This month, Martin returns with a new six-part series, 鈥楳artin Compston鈥檚 Norwegian Fling.鈥�
