Zara Janjua presents a special live programme from the Wigtown Book Festival featuring acclaimed authors Michael Morpurgo and Kate Mosse as well as music from The Bookshop Band

Zara Janjua presents a very special live programme celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Wigtown Book Festival in Dumfries and Galloway. Multi-instrumentalist duo, The Bookshop Band, will be providing live music inspired by works of literature and their love of bookshops. Jessica Fox explains why she left her high-paced job at NASA in Los Angeles to work in a bookshop in Wigtown. Best selling novelist Kate Mosse OBE takes us on a voyage to the high seas as she talks about her new book, The Ghost Ship. We go Into The Nicht with writer Dan Richards and Dark Sky Ranger, Elizabeth Tindal, exploring the magic that sets in after nightfall. American Iranian poet Marjorie Lotfi shares some poems from her new collection, The Wrong Person to Ask, and talks about leaving Iran as a child and creating a sense of home in new lands. Marjorie joins writers Manjeet Mann and Patrice Lawrence as they discuss how important it is for young readers to be introduced to characters from different backgrounds and to see themselves reflected in the stories they read. And Zara speaks to much loved children’s writer Sir Michael Morpurgo OBE about introducing young readers to the bard, as he talks about his new book, Tales from Shakespeare.
