Vernon brings the big tunes

Soul sensation Beverley Knight shares her musical choices in Tracks of My Years.

Soul sensation Beverley Knight takes us on a ten-song life journey in Tracks of My Years.

In a star-studded career spanning nearly three decades, Beverley - once nicknamed Little Aretha - has released nine albums, supported Prince and is synonymous with songs such as Shoulda Woulda Coulda, Greatest Day and Come as You Are.

In 2013, she moved successfully into the world of musical theatre, playing Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard. This was followed by a leading role in Memphis the Musical, as well as starring in the The Drifters Girl and Sylvia - where she won an Olivier Award for best supporting actress. And last summer Bev was part of Sister Act for a six week run, a role she’ll revisit next year.

In September she'll release her brand new album The Fifth Chapter, and in the autumn Beverley will take on her biggest ever UK tour to date, with 20 special headline dates across the UK.

But before all that Beverley is one of the performers at Radio 2 in the Park in Leicester on 16 and 17 September. Other artists playing at Victoria Park across the weekend include Kylie Minogue, Tears For Fears, Busted and so many more, and you'll be able to enjoy the whole thing on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds and iPlayer.

Beverley's Thursday choices are by Take That and Mica Paris.

Plus, there'll be more audio nuggets from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Archive in Vernon's Vault; and there's the mid-morning music quiz, Ten to the Top.
