Stephen Wyatt - Tales the Countess Told

4 Extra Debut. 17th century France. The Countess D'Aulnoy both captivates and comforts listeners with her fairy tales. Stars Eleanor Bron.

In 17th century Paris, the Countess D'Aulnoy delights audiences with her fairy tales.

The adventures of princesses, serpents, yellow dwarfs and tiny pagods mirror the colourful life of the Countess herself, which was as outrageous as the fantasies she fashioned for entertainment.

When the Countess flees to the countryside to evade the wrath of the king, she meets young and troubled Louise, who finds both comfort and entertainment in the storyteller’s tales.
