John O'Rourke is made redundant at 40.

So he applies to the Enterprise Allowance Board in Liverpool for a Β£40-a-week grant to set up in business as a Private Detective.

In no time at all he is caught up in the world of modern art, drug dealing and shoot outs on container ships.
