My Husband the MMA Fighter

Documentary. The story of Stevie ‘Braveheart’ Ray’s million-dollar cage fight, told through the eyes of his wife, Natalie.

Natalie Ray is a 30-year-old mother of four and is married to MMA fighter Stevie 'Braveheart' Ray. Steve is just one fight away from becoming Scotland’s first world champion - but at what cost? This is the all-or-nothing tale of his $1m prize fight, and the aftermath, told through Natalie’s eyes.

Mixed martial arts is a full-contact sport that many will know as cage fighting. Kirkcaldy-born Stevie has risen from fighting on the street, to competing on MMA’s world stage. After career-threatening injuries and a shock retirement in 2020, he has come back and is gearing up for the fight of his life. However, getting to the top of the game requires sacrifices, with restrictive diets and a punishing training regime.
Stevie is training six days a week and sleeping in the gym. Natalie is holding down the fort at home, but she barely sees Stevie, and there is precious little family time.

The PFL world championship will take place in Madison Square Gardens, New York, and the top prize is a million dollars. But MMA can be dangerous, with fighters having only a pair of four-ounce gloves for protection. The impact of the highs and crushing lows take their toll on both partners.

This documentary tracks the lead-up to the fight of their lives, as all that stands between Stevie and the title is a 25-minute fight. Win or lose, what does it mean for them and their family's future?
