The John Schofield Trust

The Trust was founded in memory of Radio 4 reporter John Schofield who was killed while on assignment in 1995. It works to support those who come to journalism with passion and promise, but with none of the connections or privileges which so often open doors. Working with young people from schools in areas of low social mobility across the UK, the trust pairs them with working journalists who mentor and support them, helping them turn what can seem impossible dreams of a job in journalism into reality.Β  The Trust believes that a more diverse media is vital for a strong democracy and this year will celebrate 25 years of supporting young journalists from all backgrounds.Β
