Ocean Vuong invites us into his poetic world

Arlo shares the songs that help her write creatively, from Fiona Apple to Aphex Twin. Arlo is also joined by her favourite poet, Ocean Vuong.

Step into Arlo’s inner world for an hour of music and musings on creativity, comfort and inspiration. She’s called it Dream Fuel - a scrapbook in sound of her favourite tracks, poems, personal voice notes, field recordings and special guests.

In this episode Arlo is joined by her favourite poet, Ocean Vuong, a Vietnamese-American writer whose works include a best-selling novel, On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, and a multi-prize-winning volume of verse, Night Sky with Exit Wounds. Together they swap special songs, and discuss subjects ranging from the lyrical genius of Mitski and Tom Waits, to the wonder of bicycles, and the difficulty of attending gigs as an introvert.

Plus Arlo shares the tracks that help her put pen to paper and push through creative writing blocks, from Fiona Apple to Aphex Twin.

Arlo Parks is a London born singer-songwriter and poet, who came onto the music scene back in 2019. Her debut album, Collapsed in Sunbeams, won the 2021 Mercury Prize, and in the same year she won Best New Artist at the Brit Awards.
