Sam Ryder's Final Tracks of My Years
Sam Ryder, singer-songwriter and this year's UK Eurovision entry, picks his final Tracks of My Years. Ken has your love song dedications plus more from PopMaster.
Sam Ryder, singer-songwriter and this year's UK Eurovision entry, chooses his final Tracks of My Years with Ken. Born in Essex, Sam will be performing at the 66th Eurovision Song Contest this May in Turin, Italy. His song 'Space Man' has already enjoyed a couple of weeks on the Radio 2 playlist.
Sam began working in the music industry as a singer and guitarist in 2009, working for the groups The Morning After, Blessed By A Broken Heart and Close Your Eyes.
He rose to prominence thanks to Tik Tok where, starting with the first lockdown during the pandemic in March 2020, he started posting his music covers.
By the end of that year he'd become the most followed artist on the platform, leading him to sign a record contract.
Sam wrote ‘Space Man’ in the late summer of 2020 and was the song that got him his record deal. He was selected from hundreds of names to represent the UK at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, following the most intense and high stakes search in recent Eurovision memory. Sam has been watching the contest since he was a kid and the idea of actually performing in it is still overwhelming for him. His main plan is to get out there, sing his head off for three minutes and make his country proud.
The final two tracks he has chosen come Sia and the musical Wicked. Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
