Hayley Goes... Limitless
Hayley faces up to her own ignorance about disability. She meets disability activists, buddies up with a woman who became paralysed overnight and learns something new about herself.
Hayley faces up to her own ignorance about disability as she explores whether we are as accepting of disabled people as we should be, or think we are.
There are over 13 million disabled people in the UK and in Wales, one in four people are living with an impairment. But Hayley is the first to admit that she is completely clueless when it comes to understanding disability. She doesn’t know anyone with a disability, and it is not something she sees on social media or talks to her mates about.
For two weeks, she explores disability awareness. She meets disability activists to learn the dos and don’ts of what to say to someone with an impairment, and finds out that being 'inspirational' isn't always a good thing. She hangs out with the wheelchair motocross champion who is living life without limits, and as she heads to the gym to meet the personal trainer living with a stoma, she discovers that not all impairments are visible. As she buddies up with a woman who literally became paralysed overnight, Hayley realises that she has been living with an impairment her whole adult life.
