During Advent, a time associated with waiting for Christians, Jonathan Thomas and guests discuss whether we have lost the skill of waiting.

Half-way through advent Jonathan Thomas and guests discuss the concept of 'Waiting'. Today we buy goods at the click of a button, we watch television on demand, it's hard to remember our professional and personal lives before the advent of smartphones. But is there more value in something you’ve patiently waited for? And what about the nature of waiting itself - are there ways in which we can find peace and even fulfilment in the experience?

Waiting is a key concept in many faith traditions and to discuss the subject we hear from Teresa White, a Catholic sister in the Faithful Companions of Jesus based in Poplar, London. She writes about waiting in faith and has recently published β€˜Hope and the Nearness of God.’ Vishpavani lives in Cardiff, he’s a Buddhist and is the Director of Mindfulness in Action. Amanda Morris is a lecturer at the University of Cardiff and a Community Liaison Officer at Muslim Council of Britain. She also supports those converting to Islam at her local mosque. Tanya Marlow is a Christian, she lives with severe M.E. and campaigns for others with chronic illness and disability. She’s written a book, β€˜Those Who Wait,’ about the spiritual value that can be found in longing.
