26/08/21 - Ragwortgate, Pharmacist to farmer, Menai Mussels

Charlotte Smith presents the latest installment of Ragwortgate, and today she hears the case for the defence from Dr Lynn Dicks, an ecologist at the University of Cambridge.

It started simply enough - Yesterday, Tony Tyler from World Horse Welfare told us that Ragwort is a potential problem to the health of horses and should be removed.

But not everyone agreed.

Listeners got in touch to point out that the humble Ragwort is an important species for biodiversity.

So today Charlotte Smith speaks to Dr Lynn Dicks, an ecologist from University of Cambridge, to hear the case for the defence.

Is this the end of Ragwortgate?

Plus, Elaine Mitchell is with Pharmacist turned farmer Ruth Parkes, and Nia Cerys reports on a project to keep Menai Mussels on the menu.
