Radio 2's Big Bee Challenge finale

Zoe Ball is live in Doncaster, as she unveils the bee-friendly garden designed by a young listener, as part of Radio 2’s Big Bee Challenge.
Radio 2’s new Big Bee Garden is being built at Doncaster’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (part of Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Trust), which has recently moved into a new building. This new garden will make it a tranquil place for young people to go and relax with their family before or after a visit or somewhere they can chat with their therapist. It will, of course, also be a fantastic place for bees and insects to thrive.
Zoe will be joined by Radio 2’s very own travel presenter and The One Show roving reporter, Richie Anderson, as they meet the people who will benefit most from the new garden and will be chatting to the winning designer - who only found out they’d won on yesterday’s Breakfast Show – to find out what they think of their design brought to life. Plus top garden designer Adam Frost tells Zoe how he managed to build the garden, with the help of the Royal Horticultural Society, in a matter of weeks, and more big bee supporters join the celebration. All this and BRIT Award nominated and platinum selling, UK singer-songwriter Ella Henderson performs live.
Along with Adam Porter on news and Richie Anderson on travel, Zoe and the team have the best start to your morning. With celeb guests, quizzes, headlines, tunes chosen by listeners and more music than you can shake a glitterball at!
There's also a Pause For Thought from Kate Bottley and listeners on the line as Zoe entertains the nation with fun for the family!

Pause For Thought
Well isn’t this lovely Zoe? It’s been such a long time since we were all together it’s great to see things starting to get back to normal, it’s probably a good time to take stock too, and gardens, especially beautiful ones like this, are a great place to Pause and reflect.Ìý
Ìý
I think I’ve become a little bit bee obsessed!ÌýÌýI’ve started seeing them everywhere, on mugs,Ìýt shirts and tattoos as well as real ones on the plants in my garden and the flowers in the park. Thanks to the big bee challenge, I’ve started pointing and shouting ‘BEE!’ every time I see one and I got very funny looks the other day when I spent half an hour lying on the grass outside church taking pictures of a lavender bush from all angles. Bees really are little flying miracles. I’ll confess to never really paying them too much attention before but without them, well things just wouldn’t work, would they?ÌýÌý
Ìý
Everyone has a B team.ÌýÌýPeople who do what they do so I can do what I do. For me it’s the person who makes sure the doors unlocked at church, that the water’s warm for the Christening, but it’s also the person who fills the shelves at the supermarket, empties the bins, or does the paperwork for our vaccines, or Zoe makes sure that microphone is working for the breakfast show and we don’t over run and make Ken Bruce cross.Ìý
Ìý
Hundreds of years ago a Christian theologian wrote ‘The bee is honoured above all other animals, not because she labours but because she labours for others.’ Our precious B teams work hard in the background quietly doing what they do to benefit others and just like the buzzy bee they too can sometimes overlooked. I reckon they aren’t called the B teamÌýbecause they’re second place but because the B stands for brilliant.
Ìý
So, thank you to the Bees, the buzzy pollinating insect sort and the Bee teams in our own lives. To the workers, the grafters, the makers, creators and the builders especially of this beautiful garden, which you’ve made for others to enjoy. The bees and the B Teams make the world a more beautiful place for us all.Ìý
