SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been providing lifelong support to our Forces and their families since 1885. In 2020, our teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 79,000 people in need, the currently serving (both regulars and reserves), veterans from the Second World War and those who have served in more recent conflicts, as well as their families.
Encouraging help-seeking
βMary was my volunteer caseworker at my local branch of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. Mary never judged or let me feel sorry for myself.Β She got me out of a dark place into a very good one"
Independence and dignity
βMary secured money for a deposit and my first month's rent in a house-share. Now I know I can eat, I know I can shower. I even have my own little TV in there. Having a key to my own front door feels great"
