The show offers a fictional window into the funny and frustrated marriage of Jon and Lucy as they give viewers a glimpse of their life in Yorkshire. The new series centres on the further frustrations of married life, the clash of career and personal life and how Jon and Lucy have been coping since viewers last saw them, including dealing with life in lockdown, which Jon predicted of course. The pair said the idea for ‘Meet the Richardsons’ came about when they did Married to a Celebrity on Channel 4. They really enjoyed filming the series even though they argued on television, finding this quite relieving and natural. The producer, Lee Hupfield thought it would work as a sitcom and the pair trusted him to make it work.
