Music Festivals; Easter Trends; Lockdown Hair
How the humble hair cut has become one of our most missed experiences of 2021.
Around 14 million people go to music festivals in the UK every year. In 2019 over a quarter of adults attended one - the highest level in four years according to market researchers Mintel. Covid 19 wiped that out by up to 90 percent. This year with the vaccination programme under way and mass testing available, several events have put tickets on sale. Although those are mostly later in the summer, and Glastonbury is off in June. We'll hear from one listeners who's worried about logistics and speak to Chris Smith from WOMAD.
Next weekend will be the second Easter we're spending in Lockdown. This year though we have a bit more freedom and people will be able to gather in gardens in groups of 6 or two households. We'll take a look at what are people planning- from BBQs, Easter Egg Hunts, baking at home, Easter trees and decorations.
And whilst in Wales you can now get a hair cut - people in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland have been waiting 3 months and counting - longer if they didn't manage to get a cut the the small window available before Christmas. In England and Scotland hairdressers are due to open soon over the coming weeks - but there's no date set in Northern Ireland. We'll hear from some of our listeners, for whom it can't come soon enough.
