Snow, Nordic Skiing and Whisky Galore!

Join Mark Stephen and Euan McIlwraith for the latest outdoor activities from Shetland to the Borders, plus the key stories for those who live and work in the countryside.

Our latest Scotland Outdoors podcast guest is Professor Alison Phipps who is UNESCO Chair for Integration at Glasgow University. Mark and Euan chatted to her about her work with refugees and asylum seekers and how that relates to the outdoors.

Mark is back on the Formartine and Buchan Way. This week he continues his journey from Maud to Strichen.

We find out live about the Young People's Forest project, a woodland that will be co-designed and governed by a panel of young people. Louise Macdonald, chief executive of Young Scot, one of the groups involved tells us more about it.

In the week that Portsoy harbour was turned into a film set for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TV series Peaky Blinders, we look back to 2015 when the cast and crew of the film Whisky Galore! also filmed in the village and Euan had exclusive access.

In the week where much of the country saw quite significant snowfall, Mark heads out into the snowy landscape to give us some interesting snow facts.

And with snow in mind we find out all about the art of Nordic Skiing from the Huntly Nordic Ski Club.

Our lockdown walk this week comes from a wintery North West as Dan Holland takes us on one of his regular walking routes which this past week turned into a sledging route.

And of course we have a mystery bird- an intriguing one this week, can you identify it from its sound?
