Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation

CSSF uses the unique power of Shakespeare to transform lives. In an unprecedented year, children have lost crucial opportunities for education and social development. Life chances - particularly for the poorest children - have been damaged. This award-winning cultural education charity can change that - giving young people the confidence and skills they need to succeed in life.Β

The power of the arts to change lives

The power of the arts to change lives
Each year we run a nationwide youth drama festival with thousands of young people.Β  Working with their classmates, they perform abridged Shakespeare plays in front of their families, friends and local communities. Over 300,000 have taken part since the charity began.Β

Kabeera’s story

Kabeera’s story
Kabeera and her classmates, from Birmingham, used their production of Othello to help them understand racism and gang violence in their community. Kabeera overcame panic attacks to take on the lead role. After the Festival she said: β€œWhen I’m older, I’d like to be a doctor. There is so much more out there.”

Supporting teachers and students

Supporting teachers and students
Our highly trained theatre practitioners give teachers and children everything they need to take part - from scripts, resources and workshops to rehearsal support for the final performance.Β Against the odds, this year’s Festival is taking place from school halls - and with us, children will raise their ambitions, make new friends and do better in class.
