The Royal Life Saving Society UK

The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) has been saving lives since 1891 and is a leading provider of water safety education, training and advice. We exist to ensure everyone can take pleasure from being in, on and around the water; our vision is one of a world free from the devastating loss of life to drowning, and one where everyone can enjoy water safely.

Making it easy to stay safe around water

Making it easy to stay safe around water
RLSS UK's free online toolkit educates people of all ages on how to stay safe around water. It is one of many resources produced to educate and advise people of all ages on how to stay safe around the water, at home and abroad.

Robust and regular training saves lives

Robust and regular training saves lives
The familiar red and yellow colours of a lifeguard on duty; RLSS UK qualify the majority of the UK’s lifeguards. A professionally trained lifeguard is ready to respond to a first aid emergency wherever and whenever it might occur. Often on the scene before the emergency services, lifeguards are everyday heroes-in-waiting.

Life after lockdown

Life after lockdown
Throughout lockdown, RLSS UK has been working hard to ensure that all our lifeguards and first-aiders have been able to maintain and refresh their training, and created guidance to secure the safe re-opening of pools and water activity sites. When music festivals, indoor and outdoor sporting fixtures and other large-scale cultural events resume , our lifeguards and first-aiders will be there to support everyone in having a good time.
