Passion, Penalties and Pavarotti, Gabby Logan travels back and relives some memorable tales, great games and epic emotions of Italia 90.

It was the game changing year that saw the release of Nelson Mendela from prison, the arrival of the World Wide Web, Supermodels who wouldn't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day and the debut of Phil and Grant Mitchell to Albert Square. So, take yourself back to the summer of 1990 and before Luciano Pavarotti even mopped his brow and you hear the lilting melody of "Nessun Dorma" you're back there, 30 years ago at "Italia 90".

We'll hear some memorable tales from World Cup players including legendary keeper Peter Shilton, one of the unfortunate penalty takers Chris Waddle and the "oh so nearly" victorious England Manager Bobby Robson. Also, in their first appearance at the World Cup The Republic of Ireland's Andy Townsend recalls an audience with The Pope with the team dressed in their shell suits. He was only 9 at the time but footballer and podcaster Peter Crouch, remembers why Italia 90 was the best tournament "ever" and singer songwriter Jack Savoretti agrees but had torn allegiances as striker Toto Schillaci reminded him of his Italian father.

Through some memorable tales, anecdotes, commentary and of course music of the time including the official World Cup song "World In Motion" featuring the remarkable rap by John Barnes. Gabby Logan will transport us to back to Italy to discover why and how Italia 90 changed the face of English football pushing it out of the shadows on to the Centre Stage in "Passion, Penalties and Pavarotti".
