Rev'd Andrew Sully

‘O be joyful in the Lord all ye lands’. Words from Psalm 100. The Revd Andrew Sully considers how can we possibly be joyful during these difficult times.

For this week’s service, the Reverend Andrew Sully opens the Old Testament’s Book of Psalms; all 150 of them are ancient works of poetry. They contain expressions of every human emotion from joy to abject grief. In particular Andrew alights on Psalm 100 which begins ‘O be joyful in the Lord’. He asks, where is the joy in this time of lockdown to be found?
Hymns include ‘All creatures of our God and King’, All people that on earth do dwell’, and Benjamin Britten’s setting of Psalm 100 - the Jubilate Dei.
