Beyoncé, PopMaster and Richard Marx

Beyoncé chooses the Tracks of My Years in an interview originally broadcast in 2009 and Richard Marx performs live as part of Radio 2 House Music.

Beyoncé chooses the Tracks of My Years with Ken in an interview taken from the archives which was originally broadcast in 2009 following the release of her third studio album "I Am...Sasha Fierce." The album went on to top the American charts that year earning Beyoncé her third consecutive US number one solo album. Beyoncé is one of the world's best selling music artists, having sold to date over 100 million records worldwide. She is the most nominated woman in the Grammy Award's history, with a total of 24 wins. In 2014, she became the highest paid black musician in history and was listed among Time's 100 most influential people in the world for a second year in a row. She occupied the sixth place for Time's Person of the Year in 2016 and in 2020 was named one of the 100 women who defined the last century by the same publication.
Beyoncé went on to marry US Rapper Jay-Z in 2014 and in 2017 they gave birth to twins Rumi and Sir Carter. The couple now have three children the eldest of which is Blue Ivy Carter. The singing superstar's next couple of tunes she chose in 2009 come from Ike & Tina Turner and Lauryn Hill. In the ensuing years Beyoncé enjoyed two more number one albums - '4' in 2011 and 'Lemonade' in 2016.

Ken also has live music from American pop and rock singer Richard Marx as part of Radio 2 House Music. He will sing his brand new single as well as one of his classic hits. Richard's singles during the late 1980s and 1990s included "Endless Summer Nights", "Hold On to the Nights", "Right Here Waiting", "Now and Forever", a murder ballad "Hazard", and "At the Beginning" with Donna Lewis. Much of his early work, such as "Don't Mean Nothing", "Should've Known Better", "Satisfied", and "Too Late to Say Goodbye", exhibited a classic rock style. He has also written or collaborated on songs with other artists such as "This I Promise You" by NSYNC and "Dance with My Father" by Luther Vandross. The latter song won several Grammy Awards. His 14th number one single, "Long Hot Summer," performed by Keith Urban, meant that Richard had songs he wrote or co-wrote top the charts in four different decades.

Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus another round of PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email ken.bruce@bbc.co.uk
