Black Friday discounts and bad weather have been blamed for a decline in Boxing Day shoppers, with retail analysts reporting a fall in the number of people heading for the sales. USDAW, a union for shop workers, has once again called for retailers to stay closed on Boxing Day so staff can enjoy Christmas. The Union said that more than three quarters of workers surveyed felt they spent too little time with loved ones over Christmas because of shift patterns over the festive period.
