The special operations team attend a car crash involving some tourists who have just arrived in Scotland.
In this episode, we follow ambulance crews in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Paisley and also spend time with the special operations response teams as they deal with the most serious emergencies.
In Aberdeen, ambulance crew Sarah and Stuart are called to a patient with epilepsy who has suffered a succession of fits and needs to be taken to hospital. In Edinburgh, the special operations team attend a car crash involving some tourists who have just arrived in Scotland only to find themselves involved in a collision and on their way to hospital.
The team are also called to assist with a call on Arthur’s Seat, where a man has a suspected broken ankle and might need to be in their all-terrain vehicle.
In Glasgow, a patient with a suspected stroke is assessed by ambulance crew Steve and John. They run some tests, but when they recommend she go to hospital, she is extremely reluctant. Back in Edinburgh, specialist paramedic Mat is called to treat a woman with severe pain due to pancreatitis. He does what he can to relieve her agony before arranging hospitalisation.
And on the Edinburgh night shift, paramedics Colin and Dan have a call to a possible sepsis case involving a teenager with a swollen foot and a range of unusual symptoms. In Paisley, paramedics Fiona and Brian visit an elderly lady who has fallen and gashed her arm. A bit of patching up is enough to fix her wound and she can stay at home to recover.
