Married priests - has the Vatican opened a door that can't be closed?

The Vatican this week raised the idea of ordaining older married men as priests, albeit solely in the Amazon's remote areas. Is that the beginning of a seismic change?

In what could be an historic shift, the Vatican this week raised the idea of ordaining older married men as priests, albeit solely in the Amazon's remote areas where there is an acute shortage of clergy. However, it does pose the question as to why it would be ok over there but not over here? In a 45-page document the Vatican also called for some kind of "official ministry" for women - again solely for the Amazon area. So is a thousand years of celibate male priests slowly coming to an end and is the church moving closer to the idea of women priests? Presenter Audrey Carville in conversation with FΓ΅inche Ryan, theologian and director of the Loyola Institute in Dublin, former priest Denis Bradley, and Alban Magenness from the Iona Institute.
