Electric Boots & Mohair Suits: Rock'n'Roll At The Movies
Claudia Winkleman with a look at the history of music in the movies and on TV, featuring Nashville, Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, the new film about Elton John.
Claudia Winkleman takes a magical mystery tour through the history of rock music in film and on television, including a behind the scenes look at the making of the new Elton John biopic "Rocketman".
The programme features exclusive interviews with "Rocketman" star Taron Egerton, actor and singer Clare Bowen from the TV series "Nashville" and Rafi Gavron, Bradley Cooper's nemesis in the recent remake of "A Star Is Born".
Bradley himself talks us through the trials and tribulations of becoming a singing actor, and we also hear from Paul McCartney, Cliff Richard, Ringo Starr, Queen's Brian May, Rami Malek, "A Hard Day's Night" director Richard Lester and legendary songwriter Jerry Leiber.
Producers David Furnish & Matthew Vaughn together with director Dexter Fletcher (whose CV includes the record breaking "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the Proclaimers' musical "Sunshine On Leith") are on hand to discuss the difficulties and the joys of bringing music based stories to the big screen along with writer Nicole Taylor ("Wild Rose") , and we visit Giles Martin at the legendary Abbey Road studios to hear exactly how you put a soundtrack together.
Edith Bowman & Bob Harris talk us through the history of rock on film & TV, from "Blackboard Jungle" in the 1950s and the the Beatles films of the 1960s right up to "LaLa Land" and the Mama Mia films today, and there's tons of great music too, from Taron Egerton's take on classic Elton John, the big hits from "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Mama Mia" and "Sunshine On Leith" right through to hidden gems from the likes of "Nashville", "Wild Rose", and many many more!
