Transforming Healthcare

If you own a smart phone (and most of us do!) then you already have the means to monitor your weight, your activity levels and your heart-rate. This technology has been advanced and tweaked for use in sophisticated bio-sensors that will transform health care. Hospitals across Wales are embracing this ability to monitor patients in real time and on Science Café this week, we hear how it's being used to monitor and treat cancer patients at Ysbyty Gwynedd.

In Wrexham, meanwhile, the med-tech company Aparito is developing wearable devices that can be helpful when treating illness in children. Adam talks to company founder and former nurse, Dr Elin Haf Davies.

And away from monitors, Virtual Reality is also being used to train healthcare professionals. Prof Nigel John, of Chester University, returns to the programme to talk about new software being developed to hone the skills of ambulance paramedics in Wales.
