Episode 224
Às dèidh ceithir bliadhna de shabaid tha a' Chiad Chogadh a' tighinn gu ceann. After four years of fighting, World War One comes to an end.
Air 3 Samhain 1918 dh’aontaich Riaghaltasan nan Co-chòmhraigeach ri iarrtas na Gearmailt airson arm-stad agus sìth, stèidhichte air beachdan a chur Ceann-suidhe Wilson nan Stà itean Aonaichte air adhart san Fhaoilleach. Ach bhiodh seachdain eile ann mus deigheadh ainmean a chuir ris.
Air an aon latha chaidh ainmean a chur ri arm-stad eadar an Ostair-Ungair agus Dùthchannan a’ Cho-chaidreachais.
Ro èirigh na grèine air 11 Samhain, ghabh feachdan Canèidianach sealbh air Mons, a’ saoradh sgìre a bha air a bhith fo smà ig na Gearmailt bho chiad mhìosan a’ chogaidh. Aig còig uairean sa mhadainn, air bòrd trèana ann an coille air taobh a-muigh Compiègne san Fhraing, chuir riochdairean na Gearmailt an ainmean ri aonta arm-stad - arm-stad a bheireadh a’ Chiad Chogadh Mòr gu crìch.
Aig sia uairean sa mhadainn chaidh brath a-mach bho Mharshal Ferdinand Foch, ceannard feachdan nan Co-chòmhragaichean. Bha an teachdaireachd sìmplidh:
Hostilities will be stopped on the entire front beginning at 11 o’clock November 11th (French hour). The Allied troops will not go beyond the line reached at that hour on that date until further orders.
Beagan an dèidh trì uairean feasgar, chaidh am Prìomhaire, Daibhidh Lloyd George, air a chasan ann an Taigh nan Cumantan ag innse: "At eleven o’clock this morning came to an end the cruelest and most terrible war that has ever scourged mankind. I hope we may say that this, this fateful morning, came to an end all wars."
