Nicola Singleton visits Deveron Projects in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, where the 'Town is the Garden' project aims to engage the whole town in sustainable food production.
Nicola Singleton visits Deveron Projects in Huntly, where their βTown Is The Gardenβ project is breaking the traditional garden model to encourage the whole town to get involved in sustainable food production. From planters outside the Post Office to βguerrilla gardeningβ, project leader Joss Allen explains how they aim to engage the wider community.
Down in the allotments, Nicola explores the ways in which gardening is bringing people together, and we meet a young family as they experiment in their plot.
Back in the kitchen, Frankie Vaughan hears how food is used to inspire important discussions around the issue of sustainability.
And Nicola has the honour of opening the brand new Barter Shop, where members of the community can exchange surplus produce, seeds and recipes through a bartering system.
