There's been some quite severe weather this year already and for horse owners it can cause problems. The British Horse Society has reported that many of its members have been in touch concerned about the incidences of colic so Mark went to investigate.
Every year mountain hares are shot for sport and pest control. But there has always been a worry that as there is no accurate data on the population size that they could become extinct if they are over shot. Euan hears about a new system being introduced to assess the population size.

Researchers and archaeologists think they may have found the site of a lost early monastery in north east Scotland where monks wrote the historic Book of Deer. Mark hears how significant this development could be.
Mountains have inspired people to write songs, create art and of course pen poetry and prose. With that in mind, The John Muir Trust has launched a writing competition to encourage people to tell them about how mountains have changed their lives and Euan gives it a go.
Camping in winter might not be everyone's idea of fun. But if you are a Scout, the seasons won't stand in your way of having fun in the outdoors. Helen Needham catches up with a hundred Scouts gathered at Templars Park near Aberdeen for a weekend winter camp.

Plastic pollution has been all over the front pages recently but some pupils at Our Lady's School in Perth have been well ahead of the game. They have been compiling a map of plastic bottle pollution in Scotland with the aim of encouraging the Scottish government to bring in a deposit scheme which would be returnable when the bottle is recycled. Euan went along to hear about their project.
