David Buck - Conflict of Doves

Athlete Jesse Owens’ dominance at 1936’s Berlin Olympics - filmed by Leni Riefenstahl – unsettles Hitler. Stars John Castle.

American athlete Jesse Owens dominated the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games - and unsettled Adolf Hitler in the process.

The world event was conceived by the German leader as a public display of Aryan superiority to be captured on film by Leni Riefenstahl.

But the emergence of the black athletes threw the Nazi leadership into confusion as they tried every way to lessen the impact - and to undermine the true sporting spirit of the Games.
