The work of Teach A Man To Fish reflects the saying from which we take our name: "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime". We help young people to gain business, entrepreneurial and personal skills in school to enable them to succeed in work and life when they leave school.

Joseph鈥檚 story, which you can hear in the Appeal, is just one example of how a school business can transform a young person鈥檚 chances of success in work and life. Joseph is 15 and already has the skills, knowledge and confidence to create his own job.

Young people learn through participating in a fully-functioning business in their school. Our training, resources and support systems guide school teams step-by-step to plan, set up, manage and keep records on a real business that produces and sells real products or services to real customers with the aim of making a profit.

Our approach works for any school in any location because we guide school teams to draw on their resources and talents to set up a business in their local community. Profitable school businesses are sustainable, generating additional income for schools and covering the costs of running the programme so that more young people can benefit year on year.
