Episode 1 of 2
Marking 50 years since the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality, we explore the Welsh-ness of LGBT history.
2017 is the 50th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act 1967 becoming law. It partially decriminalised homosexuality in England and Wales and was the first step to equality for LGBT people in the UK. We explore half a century of activism and social history in Wales with the people who have played a part. In the first episode of a two-part series, hear about the Welshman who set the law in motion; how the previous laws brought down the man who discovered Shirley Bassey; and the first Gay Pride march in Cardiff in 1985.
